Siena Heights Athletics had nine programs honored as NAIA Scholar-Teams for their efforts in the 2016-17 school year, as announced recently by the governing bodies. SHU was led by the women's golf team and softball team, boasting a 3.84 and 3.76 grade point average, respectively.
John Kalugar joins the men's and women's volleyball staff as an assistant coach. A 2017 graduate of Siena Heights University, he holds a Bachelor's degree in sport management.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Over the weekend the Siena Heights women's volleyball team competed in the Aquinas/Cornerstone Classic where they went 3-1, tying for second place in the tournament. On their way to their second place finish, they defeated St. Xavier (ILL.), Indiana-Southbend and Governors State (ILL.) dropping their only match to St. Francis (ILL.).
