Women's Volleyball Falls to Davenport in WHAC Contest

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's volleyball team traveled to take on Davenport in a WHAC match up on Wednesday. The Saints dropped the match in three sets with scores of 25-17, 25-17 and 25-22.

Paige Hudgin led the SHU offense with five kills but was closely followed by Abby Whitehead who contributed four kills. Amanda Metz was the Saints leader in assists, dishing out 16 and also adding nine digs.

Gabrielle Kalugar finished the match with 16 digs, leading Siena Heights. Libby Breton and Ashleigh Shay both assisted on blocking three Panther attacks. 

Davenport was led by Izzy Huntington with 11 kills and Sami White with 36 assists. Kasey Stehouwer completed the match with 21 digs.

Set one: Siena Heights 17, Davenport 25
DU went on an early 8-0 run putting the score at 11-3. The Saints battled and eventually brought the score to within four, but it wasnt enough.

Set two: Siena Heights 17, Davenport 25
Davenport took off on another early run taking an the lead at 11-4. Siena Heights was not able to recover and dropped set two.  

Set three: Siena Heights 22, Davenport 25
Scores and runs were traded throughout. SHU took the lead at 4-3, but DU regained advantage for the final time at 19-18 and was able to hold off the Saints for the match win.

Next up, Siena Heights will host No. 18 Madonna in a WHAC match-up on Friday, Oct. 21. First serve is set for 7:30 p.m.
