Women's Volleyball Sweeps Spring Arbor in Non-Conference Match-Up

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's volleyball team hosted Spring Arbor in a non-conference contest on Monday. The Saints completed a sweep with set scores of 25-17, 25-21 and 25-21.

The Saints (10-5, 6-3 WHAC) were led offensively by Paige Hudgin who completed the night with ten kills while Amanda Metz dished out 25 assists. 

Metz also was the SHU leader in digs with 18. Gabrielle Kalugar followed close behind with 15 digs. Libby Breton was the team leader with four assisted blocks and one solo -- denying five attacks total. 

Spring Arbor (3-14, 0-11 Crossroads) was paced by Courtney Kyser, with nine kills. Annica Stotz contributed 24 assists while two Cougars finished the match with 11 digs -- Gabrielle Hilliard and Taylor Johnston.

Set one: Siena Heights 25, Spring Arbor 17
The Saints had control from the beginning and jumped out to a 13-6 lead. SHU stretched their lead to eight, at 20-12 and the Cougars were not able to recover.

Set two: Siena Heights 25, Spring Arbor 21
Siena Heights took off on an early 6-0 run, making the score 10-6. SAU fought back but the Saints were able to hold off the Cougars and scored the final five points of the set.

Set three: Siena Heights 25, Spring Arbor 21
Scoring was back and forth for the beginning of the set but Siena Heights was determined to complete the sweep and rattled off the final seven points of the set, and match. 

Next up, the Siena Heights women's volleyball team will host No. 10 Lourdes in a WHAC contest on Wednesday, Oct. 12. First serve is set for 7:30 p.m.
