Women's Volleyball #6 Seed in WHAC Tournament Set to Take on Lawrence Tech in First Round

THE MATCH
The Siena Heights women's volleyball team will head into Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Tournament play on Saturday after the final regular season standings were announced Wednesday night.

The Saints (20-11, 8-8 WHAC) finished as the sixth seed and will host the seventh seed, Lawrence Tech (18-16, 8-8 WHAC) on Saturday, Nov. 5, with a game time of 1 p.m. The Saints and the Blue Devils finished with the same conference record, but Siena Heights receives the tiebreaker after defeating LTU, 3-1, in their head-to-head match up on Sept. 17.
Price for admission is $7 for adults and $5 for children. Siena Heights students, staff and faculty will be allowed into the facility for free.
LAST TIME WE MET
The Siena Heights Women's volleyball team traveled to take on Lawrence Tech, in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference match. The Saints walked away with a 3-1 victory and set scores of 25-12, 25-21, 21-25 and 25-23. 

Paige Hudgin was the SHU leader with 16 kills and was followed by Abby Whitehead with seven. Amanda Metz led the Saints with 30 assists.

Gabrielle Kalugar finished the match with a team high, 28 digs while Hudgin also contributed 16 digs to go along with her team high in kills. 

Lawrence Tech was led by Briana Reum with 17 kills and Josie Queary with 42 assists. Lexi Szymoniak completed the match with 31 digs for the Blue Devils. 

SET-BY-SET
Set one: Siena Heights 25, Lawrence Tech 12

The Saints jumped out to a quick 9-3 lead. The Blue Devils were able to come back and bring the score to within three, at 10-7. But SHU stepped on the gas and never looked back.

Set two: Siena Heights 25, Lawrence Tech 21
Scoring stayed close throughout the set and was tied at 21-21. Siena Heights went on a 4-0 run and completed the set two win.

Set three: Siena Heights 21, Lawrence Tech 25
After going down 0-2 in the first two sets, Lawrence Tech needed a win to keep the match alive. The Blue Devils scored the first point of the set, and the Saints answered. The scored was tied at 8-8, but LTU scored the next point and held a close lead for the remainder of the set.

Set four: Siena Heights 25, Lawrence Tech 23
The final set was tight, recording multiple ties and lead changes. The Score was tied for the last time at 16-16. Siena Heights scored the next point and was able to hold off Lawrence Tech for the set, and match victory.
