Hudgin and Metz Make All-Tournament Team at Aquinas/Cornerstone Classic and Are Set For Three WHAC Matches

AQUINAS/CORNERSTONE CLASSIC
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Over the weekend the Siena Heights women's volleyball team competed in the Aquinas/Cornerstone Classic where they went 3-1, tying for second place in the tournament. On their way to their second place finish, they defeated St. Xavier (ILL.), Indiana-Southbend and Governors State (ILL.) dropping their only match to St. Francis (ILL.).

Two Saints took home All-Tournament team honors. Freshman Paige Hudgin made All-Conference first team, while Junior Amanda Metz was named to the All-Tournament second team.

Hudgin led  the SHU offense with 55 kills in the tournament and also contributed 45 digs.

Metz was the Saints leader with 144 assists at the Classic. She also added 35 digs and five serving aces.

THE MATCHES
The Siena Heights women's volleyball team is set to face off against Davenport, #18 Madonna and UM-Dearborn in WHAC match ups this week.

SHU (18-7, 6-4 WHAC) dropped it's only conference match last week against #10 Lourdes, before they competed in the Aquinas/Cornerstone Classic. At the Classic, the Saints finished 3-1 and tied for second place. Paige Hudgin took home All-Tournament first team honors, while Amanda Metz was named to the All-Tournament second team.

Davenport (11-12, 5-5 WHAC) dropped their only match last week to conference rival, Cornerstone. They will look to get back on track this week when they take on Siena Heights, Indiana Tech and Northwesterm Ohio.

#18 Madonna (24-5, 9-1 WHAC) won their only conference match last week against Northwestern Ohio, before they traveled to Joliet, Ill. to compete in the Big Guns Classic. At the tournament they finished 3-1, dropping their only match to #8 Georgetown.

UM-Dearborn (9-14, 2-8 WHAC) took down Marygrove in their only match last week. They will look to keep going strong when they face off against Indiana Tech, #10 Lourdes and Siena Heights this week.
