Women's Volleyball Defeats Concordia in WHAC Contest

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's volleyball team traveled to take on Concordia in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest on Wednesday. The Saints completed the win in four sets with scores of 14-25, 25-20, 25-14 and 25-21.

Libby Breton led the SHU offense with 15 kills and hitting .491 on the night. Amanda Metz dished out a team high, 39 assists.

Gabrielle Kalugar finished the match with 28 digs, followed by Paige Hudgin with 22. Kalugar also added three aces for the Saints. 

Concordia was led by Alisha Anderson with 16 kills and Claire Truskowski with 34 assists. Julia Szuba finished the match with 34 digs for the Cardinals. 

SET-BY-SET

Set one: Siena Heights 14, Concordia 25
Scoring was traded throughout the beginning of the set. The score was 14-16 when the Cardinals rattled off the final nine consecutive points and started the match up, 1-0. 

Set two: Siena Heights 25, Concordia 20
The second set was similar to the first with scores being traded throughout the beginning of the set. This time, it was the Saints who took off, and ended the set with a 8-0 run.

Set three: Siena Heights 25, Concordia 14
Siena Heights jumped out to a quick 6-2 lead and then soon after, pulled even further away after a 5-0 run to make the score 19-10. Concordia was not able to recover and the Saints took control of the match, 2-1.

Set four: Siena Heights 25, Concordia 21
SHU scored the first point of the set and was determined to close out the match. CUAA tied the score mulitple times but was not able to gain advantage, with the final tie coming at 16-16.

Next up, Siena Heights women's volleyball will host Cornerstone on Saturday, Oct. 29, in a WHAC match-up. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
