Hudgin, Metz and Kalugar Named to All-Conference Teams

With the 2016 women's volleyball regular season in the books, the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference announced it's awards for the season.

Headlining for the Saints was freshman Paige Hudgin from Ida, Michigan, who was selected as WHAC Newcomer of the year and the only freshman to be named to the All-Conference first team. She was also a member of the All-Freshman team. In her debut season, Hudgin finished with a team high, 390 kills, averaging 3.36 kills per set and a hitting percentage of .219. She also added a total of 366 digs and averaged 3.16 digs per set.

Juniors Amanda Metz and Gabrielle Kalugar were named to the All-Conference Second Team. Metz completed her junior campaign with a team high 1,022 assists, averaging 8.81 per set. She also led the team in aces with 39 on the season. Kalugar led the Saints with 550 digs, averaging 5.14 per set and was the second leading team member in aces with 28.

Libby Breton was selected to the Champions of Character team as well as being apart of the All-Academic team. Joining Breton, a biology major, on the All-Academic team were juniors Julie Bonk, a communications major, and Abby Whitehead a nursing major.

The Saints finished its season on Wednesday when they dropped its WHAC tournament quarterfinals match to Cornerstone. SHU recorded an overall record of 21-12 and a WHAC record of 8-9.
