Joudiel Poveymirow Earns NVA/AVCA All-America Honorable Mention Award

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Siena Heights junior libero Joudiel Poveymirow was named an NVA/AVCA All-America Honorable Mention when the teams were announced by the American Volleyball Coaches Association on Monday. The Orlando Florida native joins 2020 All-American Emilier De Jesus as the only two Saint men's volleyball players to earn the honor.

"Congratulations to Jo for receiving national recognition!" said SHU men's volleyball head coach Chris McKim. "Sound defensive play has been a hallmark here at Siena Heights." "The tradition is further solidified with two different liberos receiving AVCA All American Honorable Mention in back-to-back seasons."

Poveymirow has had a fantastic debut season for the Saints this year. He earned the WHAC Libero of the Year and first-team All-WHAC honors when the league released its annual awards. He was also named WHAC Defender of the Week twice this season. He leads both the WHAC and the NAIA in digs per game with 4.52. He also leads the WHAC in total digs with 271, a mark that is fourth in the NAIA. Those numbers are a large factor in Siena Heights leading the country in digs per game as a team with 12.21.
