Student-Athlete Leadership Team

The PURPOSE
SALT functions as an organization that connects the student-athletes of Siena Heights University through different on-campus experiences. The organization’s activities shall be designed to promote the five core values of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA): Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Sportsmanship, and Servant Leadership.

Additionally, SALT will focus on promoting community service, academic success, and the University’s mission.

As a member of SALT, each individual must

  1. Be an undergraduate student-athlete at Siena Heights University, or approved by members
  2. Maintain a grade point average of at least a 2.0
  3. Be of a freshman, sophomore, junior or senior class standing

SECTION 2
Each varsity sports team will receive one voting member as their team representative. For athletic programs with more than fifty athletes, two voting members are allowed. Additional team members are allowed to be a part of the organization, but may NOT vote on organization decisions.

SECTION 3
Programs that use a junior varsity team will also receive two voting representatives. One voting member will represent the varsity team, while the second will represent the junior varsity team.

SECTION 4
Representatives shall be on a volunteer basis for the Student-Athlete Leadership Team. In the event that the number of volunteers exceeds the number of representatives allowed for a particular program, a majority vote shall be performed to decide who will represent said program. If no athletes volunteer to represent a specific program, that program shall receive no support from the Student-Athlete Leadership Team.
