Gohr's OT Heroics Lift Men's Lax to CCLA Quarterfinal Win over Lawrence Tech

BEVERLY HILLS, Mich. -- Brennen Gohr netted the tying and winning goals, lifting the Siena Heights men's lacrosse team to an 11-10 double-overtime victory against Lawrence Tech in a Central Collegiate Lacrosse Association Tournament quarterfinal on Saturday.

With one second left in regulation, Gohr tied the contest at 10-all for the sixth-seeded Saints. Then, in the second OT period, he scored the game-winner.

The Saints (6-7) battled back from a 9-5 second-half deficit, answering a 5-1 Lawrence Tech run with a 6-1 stretch of their own.

With SHU trailing by four, Nate Woods led a four-goal rally in which he tallied two goals and one assist. John Holowaty had the run's first goal before Woods put in two. Then, Nick Lyons tied the contest at 9-9, getting an assist from Adam Keay.

With 1:34 remaining in regulation, Justin Clark scored a man-down goal for the Blue Devils, giving the hosts their final lead at 10-9 before Gohr ended the game with his personal two-goal run.

Tom Kreitzer finished with three goals for Siena Heights while leading scorer Woods compiled two goals and two assists.

Holowaty tallied one goal and one assist while Lyons, James Thomas Lauria and Benjamin Lama had single goals. Keay made two assists.

Gohr and Joshua Abruzzo picked up seven groundballs each. Abruzzo also caused three turnovers.

Keay had six groundballs while winning goaltender Ryan Mailloux finished with 14 saves and five groundballs.

For Lawrence Tech (7-4), Clark and Bryan Burnham scored three goals each. Justin Kellewald picked up nine groundballs, Joey Yudasz had three caused turnovers, and goalie Adam Gohl made 13 saves.

The Saints will return to action on Friday with a CCLA Tournament semifinal against fifth-ranked Grand Valley State. GVSU is the defending CCLA Tournament champion. The Lakers defeated 14th-ranked Lourdes (Ohio), 19-5, in their quarterfinal.
