Pechota Selected as Individual Pathway Coach at NCAA Basketball Academy

ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Siena Heights men's basketball coach Joe Pechota has been selected to be an individual pathway coach at the NCAA College Basketball Academy men's program, which will take place July 23-25 at Winthrop.

The NCAA College Basketball Academies are designed to give prospective men's and women's student-athletes a sample of the college basketball experience. Pechota and other members of the National Association of Basketball Coaches at the developmental summer academy will instruct high school juniors and seniors on high-level basketball competition and life skills instruction.

Participants and their chaperones attend life skills courses about NCAA eligibility and compliance, the recruiting process, NIL opportunities, agents and the transfer portal.

There are three pathways -- the JUCO, team and individual pathways.

The individual pathway, in which Pechota will be an instructor, involves up to 300 prosepective student-athletes from the classes of 2025 and 2026 whom are chosen by NCAA Division I head coaches. The event is the only summer event that D-I coaches are allowed to attend.

"As an NABC member for over 25 years, it's an honor to be selected to be to a coach in this summer's NCAA College Basketball Academy," Pechota said. "Along with the NABC, this is a unique event that the NCAA has put together as one of the marquee events during the month of July's recruiting calendar, bringing together some of the top high school talent from across the country for a few days of really high level basketball. I'm excited to be a part of it representing both Siena Heights University and our basketball program."
