All Five Starters Hit Double-Digits as SHU Men's Hoops Downs MVNU

ADRIAN, Mich. -- Christian Covile scored 19 points and Malachi Satterlee had a double-double worth 10 points and 11 rebounds to lead the the Siena Heights men's basketball team to an 80-71 victory over non-conference opponent Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) on Monday at the SHU Fieldhouse.

Jamison Webster added 16 points, Stone Beckwith put in 14 and Jerrell Martin contributed 13 as each of SHU's starters reached double-figures in scoring, combining for 72 points.

The Saints and Cougars traded runs in the first half. SHU enjoyed a 13-2 charge, getting five points from Beckwith, to take a 16-5 lead. Then, the visitors answered with 12 consecutive points, including seven by Eric Roby.

SHU then answered itself, getting four points from Covile and three from Webster to score seven points and go ahead, 23-17. The Saints (6-8) led the rest of the way from there, expanding their lead to 44-30 at one point.

MVNU (3-8) twice trimmed its deficit to four, but could not pull any closer. The Saints went 16 of 22 from the free-throw line during the final 10 minutes.

For the Cougars, Bryan Redic had 17 points while Martell Medley, Roby, and Caleb Williams contributed 16, 14, and 13, respectively.

The Saints will be in action next when they host Concordia in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Dec. 28 at 1 p.m.
