Saints' Men's Hoops Claims First Win of Season

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Christian Covile scored 20 points as the Siena Heights men's basketball team earned its first win of 2013-14 -- a 68-58 non-conference victory over Indiana-South Bend on Tuesday.

Jamison Webster added 10 points and Jerrell Martin grabbed 12 rebounds for the Saints (1-1).

SHU snagged a 34-25 halftime lead before using a 15-2 run to go up, 53-36. Eric Cogan and Edward Cold had four points apiece during that charge.

IUSB did not go quietly, going on a late 11-point run; Mark White had seven points while Jason Jordan put in four as the host Titans (1-2) closed their deficit to 63-58. Siena Heights then scored the game's final five points.

The Saints went 29 of 60 from the field (48.3 percent) while holding IUSB to an 18-of-56 performance (32.1). Covile shot 9 of 15.

For Indiana-South Bend, Jordan had 19 points while Chris Beam and White put in 14 and 10 points, respectively. Beam also had five assists, Riley Stichter grabbed 13 rebounds, and Joe Godfread finished with eight rebounds.

Siena Heights (1-1) will be in action again on Friday and Saturday when it hosts the Maple City Classic.
