Saints Gear Up for Two Conference Games this Week

Upcoming for Saints Soccer: The Saints look ahead to two conference games this week as they host Lawrence Tech and are on the road against UNOH.
 
Head Coach: In his 20 seasons as the head coach of the Siena Heights women's soccer program, Coach Scott Oliver has been able to lead the Saints to four Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) regular-season championships as well as five WHAC tournament titles.  In this time, the Saints have also been to the NAIA tournament six times.
 
At Home: The Saints are 3-1 at home this season. They won games against Indiana Tech (1-0) on October 3rd, Lourdes (1-0) on October 10th, and Rochester (4-0) on March 13th. They lost to Concordia (3-2) on October 17th.
 
On The Road: The Saints are 1-3 on the road this season as they lost games to Cornerstone (1-0) on October 17th, Mount Vernon Nazarene (1-0) on October 31st, and Madonna (2-1) on March 13th. They won against Indiana Tech (2-0) on March 20th.
 
Making History: With the 1-0 win over Indiana Tech on October 3rd, Siena Heights became the first college women's soccer program in the state of Michigan to reach 450 wins.
 
Players of the Week: Marissa Young earned WHAC women's soccer offensive player of the week. Young tallied nine shots on goal and two goals on the week as they won against Rochester (4-0) and Indiana Tech (2-0). She had a goal in each of those games.
 
Kaleigh Mahaz was named WHAC women's soccer defensive player of the week. Mahaz helped lead the Saints to two wins on the week against Rochester (4-0) and Indiana Tech (2-0) as she was an integral part of the defense. The Saints defense did not allow many shots in the last two games. They held Rochester to only one shot the entirety of the game that went wide. In the game against Indiana Tech, the 11 shot they did allow many were not on the net.
 
Last Week Recap: Siena Heights 4, Rochester 0
The Saints set the pace in the first half as they got their first goal on the board at the 12:24 mark as Isabel Remar received a pass into the box from Berenice Huette Moncelet that allowed her to beat Skylar Zaranek in goal. Siena struck again when Marissa Young took a shot at the top outside of the box that found the back of the net at the 25:51 mark to put them in the 2-0 lead at the half.
 
SHU kept the momentum going in the second half as Jennifer Richmond had a pass inside the box from Macy Llewellyn and slotted it past Zaranek at the 59:29 mark. The Saints earned their final goal of the game at the 62:10 mark when Hannah Moening took a shot that was saved by Zaranek and Faith Patania scored off the rebound save. SHU's defense held Rochester to only one shot in the entire game as they recorded 39 shots. 
 
Siena Heights 2, Indiana Tech 0
The Saints set the pace in the first half as they got on board first at the 10:09 mark as Berenice Huette Moncelet found the back of the net as Isabel Remar and Isabel Herden earned the assist. Indiana Tech had an opportunity to score the equalizer as they had two shots on goal in the first half from Bailey Elliott and Allie Pensyl but SHUs defense was solid sending them into the half with a 1-0 lead. 
 
The second half was a defensive battle as both teams exchanged possessions and Siena edged the Warriors 11 shots to four. Dani Blagojevic had two shots on goal for Indiana Tech but was not able to find the back of the goal to tie the game. A foul on one of the Warriors defenders in the box allowed Marissa Young to take a penalty shot for the Saints that she slotted past Christina Wynn in goal securing the 2-0 win.
 
Series History: Lawrence Tech - This will be the first time the teams meet this season. The last game between each other was last season on October 23rd at Siena Heights as the Saints won 1-0. 
 
UNOH - The Racers hold the all-time record 9-2 against the Saints. UNOH has a 6-2 home record and a 3-0 away record in the series. The last time the two teams met was last season on October 19th at Siena's home field as the Racers won 4-0. The two Saint wins were in the first contest against the teams on October 9th, 2013 with a score of 2-1, and November 11th, 2017 with a score of 3-2.
 
Scouting Reports: Lawrence Tech - Jenny Dear leads the Blue Devils in goals (10), points (23), and shots (39). DiOnna Hill has the most assists (6). Rebecca Almandoz leads the team in goal with 67 saves, a save percentage of .798 and 17 goals against. 
 
UNOH - Agnes Stefansdottir and Ariana Mondiri each lead the team in goals (4). Renata Aguirre has the team's most assists (3). Ariana Mondiri leads in points (10) and shots on goal (15). Agnes Stefansdottir leads in shots (33). Iike Brandsma leads the team in net with 5:44.54 minutes played, seven goals against, 10 saves, and a save percentage of .588.
