Saints Drop Double-Overtime Thriller to 22nd-Ranked UNOH

LIMA, Ohio -- The Siena Heights women's soccer team fell 2-1 in double overtime against WHAC opponent 22nd-Ranked UNOH on Saturday afternoon. Jennifer Richmond led the Saints as she scored the team's lone goal of the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Saints struck first as Jennifer Richmond netted the ball as Racers goalie, Ilke Brandsma, made a turnover and left the goal open eight minutes into the game. UNOH scored the equalizer at the 32:37 mark when Ariana Mondiri had a through ball from Jeweleen Reuille and slotted it past Kara Bishop sending the game into halftime.

The score remained at 1's throughout the second half sending the game into overtime. The Racers held SHU to no shots in the second half as they recorded six and Agnes Stefansdottir had one shot on goal but was saved sending the game into overtime.

Once again, the score remained tied after the first overtime. Siena only had one shot in the overtime as Marissa Young's ball went wide. Two of UNOHs three shots were on goal but they were saved pushing the game to double overtime.

The Racers won the game 2-1 in double overtime as Karabo Dhlamini had the game-winning goal as she took a shot 28 yards out and placed it in the top corner of the net. UNOH edged the Saints 24 shots to 9 in the game.

Jennifer Richmond had one goal off one shot.

• Isabel Herden tallied three shots.

Kara Bishop made seven saves off the nine shots she faced in net for SHU.

THE OPPOSITION

• Ariana Mondiri had one goal off four shots.

• Karabo Dhlamini scored the game-winning goal.

• Ilke Brandsma made one save in the 91 minutes she played in goal for the Racers.

The Saints round out the regular season as they travel to face WHAC opponent Aquinas on Monday, March 29th. Kick-off is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
