Adrian Hosts #22 Women's Basketball Prior to Annual SHU Thanksgiving Tournament

The 22nd-ranked Siena Heights women's basketball team is set for cross town rival, Adrian on Tuesday, before hosting its annual Thanksgiving Tournament on Friday and Saturday. Competing in the SHU Thanksgiving Tournament along with the host Saints will be, Goshen (Ind.), Pikeville (Ky.) and No. 18 Indiana Northwest.

Adrian (0-1 overall) opened its season last week with a loss to Marietta. Last season the Saints and Bulldogs met on Nov. 22. Siena Heights won the contest 76-57. SHU and AC will tip off at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 21. 

The Saints (0-5, 0-3 WHAC) will take on Goshen on Friday at 7 p.m. The Maple Leafs have a 1-6 start to the season with the only win coming over Great Lakes Christian. The last time Goshen and SHU met was in the 2011-12 season where the Saints grabbed the 80-52 victory.

No. 18 Indiana Northwest (4-4 overall) enters the week after falling to Bethel and the defeating Grace last week. The Redhawks will take on Pikeville in the first round of the SHU Thanksgiving Tournament at 5 p.m. on Friday. 

Pikeville will also enter the tournament with a 4-4 record. Last week the Bears fell to West Virginia Tech after taking down Central Methodist (Mo.). Pikeville will take on Indiana Northwest in the first round contest of the SHU Thanksgiving Tournament. 

The winners from each first round game in the Siena Heights Thanksgiving Tournament will compete in the championship game on Saturday at 4 p.m. A consolation game will take place at 2 p.m. 

Through four games, Ashley Perry leads the Saints offense with ten points per game. Alyssa Larson and Demi Russell each follow close behind with nine points per contest. Sharmaine Wills leads Siena Heights on the glass with 10.5 boards per game. Azalea Miller has led the way, dishing out 2.8 assists per contest. 

Next up, the Siena Heights women's basketball team will host Rochester in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest on Wednesday, Nov. 29. Tip off is set for 6 p.m.
