Men's Basketball Hosts Two Opponents to Open Winter Break

THE GAMES
The Siena Heights men's basketball team opens the Winter Break with two games, facing conference opponent Madonna on Saturday and non-conference opponent Roosevelt on Tuesday. The WHAC contest featuring the Crusaders will begin at 3 p.m. while SHU takes on the Lakers at 6 p.m.

Siena Heights is currently 5-5 overall, including a 3-4 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference record. Last week, SHU won both away contests as they took down the UNOH Racers, 65-63, and Lawrence Tech, 78-58. As a team, the Saints average 72 points per game while shooting 48.1% from the floor, 30.0% behind the arc and 68.9% from the free throw line.

Madonna is 7-5 overall while holding a 3-3 WHAC record, losing both games last week by seven or less points to Aquinas and second-ranked Cornerstone. The Crusaders average 87.2 points per game, shooting 46.5% overall, 35.8% in three-point land and 66.4% from the charity stripe.

Non-conference opponent Roosevelt is 10-3 on the season so far, their biggest loss against Governors State on Dec. 2, 85-75. The Lakers are coming off a 59-54 loss from Cardinal Stritch. RU averages 76.5 points per game as the Lakers shoot 48.5% from the floor, 38.8 % behind the arc and 70.5% from the line.

PLAYERS TO WATCH
Leading the Saints with an average of 13.4 points per game is Tony Jackson II. The senior guard has amassed a team-leading 81 rebounds and 13 steals while shooting 60.0% from the floor. Junior point guard Nick Randle has earned 34 assists for SHU while averaging 12.6 points per game with a 35.8% three-point shooting percentage. Stepping up for the Saints has been sophomore forward Keith Jordan Jr., grabbing 56 boards and averaging 10.7 points per game with a 52.8% shooting percentage.

The Crusaders are led by Joshua Reynolds with 13.3 points per game, snagging 51 rebounds and managing 25 assists. Jonathon Swift leads the team with 40 assists and averages 11.2 points per game. With 79 boards, Davon Taylor leads MU while scoring 11.6 points per game.

Jake Ludwig averages 19.1 points per game for the Lakers, also leading the team in assists with 69 and rebounds with 64 while maintaining a 53.4 shooting percentage from the floor. Carson Hughes averages 10.4 points per game, bringing in 50 boarss and 13 steals.

NEXT UP
Siena Heights will travel to crosstown rival Adrian College on Thursday, Dec. 28, for a 7 p.m. non-conference game. SHU will then host IU-South Bend on Saturday, Dec. 30, and bring in the new year with a WHAC match-up at Aquinas on Wednesday, Dec. 3, at 8 p.m.
