Turnovers Sink Men's Basketball in Non-Conference Play Against Roosevelt

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's basketball team fell, 72-66, to non-conference opponent Roosevelt at home, on Tuesday. As a team, the Lakers scored 25 points off of SHU turnovers, the Saints scoring only nine off of RU turnovers, as Roosevelt held an 11-19 turnover advantage.

The Saints (5-7) came out to a quick start, leading the Lakers 13-4 with 12:34 remaining in the first half. At the 5:41 mark, Roosevelt (12-3) tied it up 19-19 and took over 21-20 with 5:09 left in the first half. Siena Heights came back, taking over 28-27 to end the first half.

Throughout the second half the score stayed close with the 11th tie of the night coming at the 9:01 mark, 49-49. The Lakers went on a 10-3 run that ended up costing the Saints, unable to comeback from the seven-point deficit.

Tony Jackson II made 21 points on the night while dishing out six assists for SHU. Trevor Holston managed 16 rebounds and 14 points to earn the lone double-double in the game. The Lakers were led by Jake Ludwig with 17 point and five assists while Adam Alexander earned 11 points.

Overall, Siena Heights shot 22-49 (44.9%), making 2-8 (25.0%) behind the arc and 20-29 (69.0%) from the line. RU managed 23-51 (45.1%) from the floor while going 9-17 (52.9%) in three-point land and 17-24 (70.8%) from the charity stripe.

Next up, the Saints will face crosstown rival Adrian on Thursday, Dec. 28, at 7 p.m.
