THE MATCH
The Siena Heights women's volleyball team will open Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Wednesday, Sept. 2, at 7 p.m., at the SHU Fieldhouse against 13th-ranked Davenport.
The Saints placed seventh in the WHAC in 2014, finishing with a 10-12 record in conference play to go along with their 18-14 overall record. SHU fell to Madonna in the WHAC Tournament quarterfinals.
In 2015, Siena Heights is off to a 3-1 start after placing third at the Concordia Kickoff Tournament. The Saints enjoyed a pair of wins over Spring Arbor and a non-conference victory over fellow WHAC school Lawrence Tech.
Davenport is the defending WHAC regular-season and WHAC Tournament champions. It went 1-2 during NAIA Tournament pool play in 2014. The Panthers have finished in the Top 3 in the WHAC regular season for four straight seasons.
In 2015, DU is 3-5 after competing in two different tournaments.
THE SERIES
Davenport has won its last 12 matches against Siena Heights, dating back to the 2007 season. SHU won the first two meetings between the programs in 2006.
