Women's Track and Field Earns Runner-Up at 2018 WHAC Outdoor Championship

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Siena Heights women's track and field team was named the runner-up at the 2018 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Championship, on Thursday and Friday. SHU finished with five WHAC Champions, four in the second day of action.

As a team, Siena Heights earned 208.5 points while Indiana Tech won the event with a total of 235 points. Aquinas was third with 165 points with Cornerstone in second with 122.5 points. In fifth and sixth place was Madonna with 48 points and Concordia with 20 points.

Haley Hudson won the shot put with an automatic-qualifying toss of 45 feet, 4 ½ inches. Earning second place was Courtney Taylor with a throw of 42 feet, 5 ½ inches.

Winning the 400 meter hurdles was Tyriah Pryor with a time of 1:04.21, a provisional-qualifying time.

The Saints swept the top three in the discus as Taylor won the event with a throw of 127 feet, 5 inches. Tina Miller, the javelin winner from day one, took second with a throw of 126 feet, 8 inches while Amanda Geerlings earned third with a throw of 125 feet, 11 inches.

Sheila McKinley won the pole vault as she cleared the automatic-height of 12 feet, 5 ½ inches. Tasha McKinley managed second place as she cleared 12 feet, 1 ½ inches, which is also an automatic-qualifying height.

Asia Gradner took second in the 100 meter dash with an automatic-qualifying time of 11.98 seconds.

In the 400 meter dash, Alexis Moore ran in an automatic-qualifying time of 56.37 seconds, to earn third place.

With an automatic-time in the 100m hurdles was Mildrenae Young-Brooks, crossing the finish line in 14.49 seconds, to take third place.

In the long jump, it was a tightly contested battle as Julia Forbes and Young-Brooks finished fourth and fifth, respectively, with automatic-qualifying distance. Forbes went 19 feet, two inches while Young-Brooks jumped 19 feet, 1 ¼ inches.

Charlena Wiliams took third in the triple jump as she went a provisional-distance of 37 feet, 5 inches.

The 4x100 meter relay team took second place with an automatic-qualifying time of 47.05 seconds. The relay consisted of Madisyn Kleinschmit, Young-Brooks, Moore and Gardner.

In the 4x400 meter relay, SHU took second place with a time of 3:51.48 for an automatic-qualifying performance. The relay consisted of Pryor, Delaney Stersic, Brianna Pekel and Moore.
