Johnson, Russo, Pierce and Renshaw win events at Hillsdale Winter Open

Hillsdale, Mich. - The Saints won four events and hit multiple national qualifying standards at the Hillsdale Winter Open Saturday.

Jalesia Johnson won the 200 meter dash with an automatic qualifying time of 25.53. Johnson also placed 5th in the long jump. 

Ashley Russo and Elaine Johnson went 1-2 in the 1,000 meter run.  Russo won the event with a time of 3:11.51 while Johnson was right behind her at 3:11.75. 

Madison Pierce won the pole vault.  Pierce cleared 12'1.50" to win the event and clear the automatic standard for nationals. 

Kasey Renshaw won the weight throw with a mark of 62'3.25" and then took 5th in the shot put at 43'7".  Both marks hit the automatic standard.

Haley Hudson placed 3rd in the shot put with a distance of 44'.5", and hit the automatic mark as well.

In the 60 meter dash, Mildrenae Young-Brooks to 4th place at 7.86 and Dominique Taylor took 5th place at 7.89 seconds.  Young-Brooks then went on to place 4th in the long jump with a distance of 16'5", and 4th in the triple jump at 35'1.75". 

Emily Judd took 4th place in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:15.14. 

Both Phoenix Duncan and Amber Koprin cleared 5'5.75" in the high jump.  Duncan took fourth place, one spot ahead of Koprin, on the tie breaker.  Both jumpers hit the automatic qualifying standard.

The Saints will return to action next Friday when the travel to Saginaw Valley State University for the Saginaw Classic.
