Upset win by Sorrow isn’t enough as No. 5 Marian beat Saints 29-18

The Siena Heights Men's Wrestling team picked up an upset win at 141 pounds when Chris Sorrow beat Marian's No. 22 ranked Andre Beatty, but it wasn't enough as No. 5 Marian won the WHAC dual 29-18 on Monday in Adrian.

The Saints started off winning the first three matches of the dual and jumped out to a 15-0 lead against Marian. Wyatt Nault earned a forfeit at 125 pounds and Randy Frailey's forfeit at 133 pounds put SHU up 12-0.

Sorrow's 9-4 win was the highlight for the Saints.

The Knights came storming back at 149 when Ian Heath picked up the fall over Dylan McLean to cut the score to 15-6.

Mat Dwyer picked up a gritty 11-5 win over Jordan Fulks at 157 pounds to stretch Siena's lead to 18-6. It would be the last win of the dual for Siena.

A tech fall at 165 by No. 3 Elliot Rogers against SHU's Gage Parker, a pin by No. 10 Noah Hollendonner and a forfeit at 184 put the Knights up 23-18.

A 5-3 win by Marian's No. 7 Jack Servies over Wes Peters at 197 and an overtime win by Austin Lane against the Saints' Jaylen Culver at heavyweight closed the dual with a 29-18 win for Marian.

"I thought our work ethic was there; we wrestled hard in positions that we needed to," said Head Coach Derrik Marry. "At the same time, we needed to do more of that in the matches that we didn't win. Work ethic is everything."
