Gage Parker Places 6th in Fresh/Soph 165 Bracket at Grand View Open

GRIMES, IOWA – Siena Heights freshman Gage Parker finished sixth in the fresh/soph 165 bracket at the Grand View Open in Grimes, Iowa on Saturday. Parker was the top finisher for the Saints at the tournament.

Parker won his first match by tech fall (TF, 15-0) over Coleman LeCoq from Labette Community College in the championship round 2. The quarterfinal round went to Parker via decision (Dec 8-1) over Jackson Jones of Saint Mary's. The first loss of the day came against Cullen Koedam from Grand View by a major decision (Maj 12-0). Parker fell in his final two matches, the first by decision and the last by fall to claim sixth in the bracket.

Dylan McLean won three of his five matches in the fresh/soph 149 bracket. His first win was by decision (Dec 12-5) over Ian Sandoz of Waldorf. He lost his second match before winning two straight. His second win of the afternoon came by decision, while the last was a major decision over Braydon Lemuz of Pratt.

Nathan Burns finished 2-2 on the day with wins over Nikolas Ortega of William Penn (Maj 11-1) and Gregory Pierre-Louis from Central Baptist (Fall 0:17). Mathew Dwyer won a match over Ty Lehman from Cumberlands by decision (Dec 5-5). Randy Frailey won a match by fall over Alfredo Moreno of Waldorf (Fall 2:11). Wesley Peters won a match over Gus Davis from Grand View by decision (Dec 16-10).

The Saints grapplers will compete at the Albion Invitational next weekend. The invite begins at 12:00 PM.
