Women's Lax Locks Up WHAC Tournament Berth with Win over Aquinas

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's lacrosse team clinched a berth in the WHAC Tournament on the final day of the regular season with its 17-10 victory over Aquinas on Saturday.

Jenna Allie led the way with six goals while Sophia Baugh tallied three and Danielle Turner scored twice. Single goals were scored by Kallei Brown, Maitland Fuentes, Avah Holland, Emily Pringle, Kaitlyn Catalano and Catherine Androwski.

Holland made two assists while Baugh, Brown, Fuentes, Pringle and Catalano made one apiece.

In draw controls, Pringle grabbed six and Androwski picked up five. Allie snagged three groundballs.

Audrey Scott caused three turnovers while Holland, Melissa Bacho and Ava Lazzareschi recorded two CTs. Lucy Stedam stopped nine shots for the win in goal.

In what was essentially a play-in game for WHACs, Siena Heights (6-8, 3-5) broke a 5-5 tie with four straight goals in the second quarter and led the rest of the way.

The Saints led 9-6 at the half. Host Aquinas (2-12, 2-6) pulled within 11-9 before SHU closed the contest on a 6-1 run. Allie had three goals in that closing stretch while Baugh sent in two.

Siena Heights will play next in the WHAC Tournament with a road game on Tuesday. The opponent is not yet determined.
