Fourth-Quarter Run Sends Women's Lax To Season-Opening Win In Miami

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. -- The Siena Heights women's lacrosse team ran past Saint Thomas (Fla.) with a five straight fourth-quarter goals in its season-opening 12-9 win over Saint Thomas (Fla.) on Saturday.

Jenna Allie and Emily Pringle scored four goals each for SHU (1-0). Danielle Turner, Kallei Brown and Grace Holland added single goals. Kaitlyn Catalano made an assist.

In goal, Lucy Stedam made 10 saves to earn the win.

Turner was the leading draw-controller for both teams with nine pickups. She also caused two turnovers.

Sophia Baugh added three groundballs and two caused turnovers. Ava Lazzareschi snagged four GBs.

The back-and-forth contest went into halftime tied at 6-all. Saint Thomas gained an 8-7 lead before the fourth when the Saints took the lead for good.

Turner and Pringle scored seven seconds apart, putting the Saints ahead 8-7. Brown, Pringle and Allie followed with insurance goals before Saint Thomas notched the final goal with 57 seconds left.

Siena Heights will visit Warner for a 5 p.m. non-conference game on Monday.
