Cirino Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District® Team

2020 CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large Release

GREENWOOD, Ind. - Junior Marissa Cirino (Canton, Mich.) of the Siena Heights women's lacrosse team was tabbed College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District®, the organization announced on Thursday (May 21).

The 2019-20 Academic All-District® At-Large Team, selected by the CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in their sport and in the classroom.

Cirino was named to the At-Large District 1 Team, which encompasses school from Michigan along with 21 other states. Cirino is the lone women's lacrosse player on the team along with student-athletes representing the sports of tennis, golf, swimming, bowling, and beach volleyball. Earning a 4.00 grade point average during the 2020 spring semester as an accounting major, she is the first member of the Siena Heights women's lacrosse team to earn Academic All-District honors since Sydney VanHoose in 2015.

Cirino closed the season leading the team in every stat category aside from one, which was draw-controls with 13. She tallied 22 goals, seven assists, 29 points, 11 groundballs, five caused-turnovers, 33 shots, and 35 shots on goal. She holds 22 spots on the SHU career records list, topping five of those records with points per game (4.38), assists (62), assists per game (1.55), man-up goals (9), and man-down goals (2).

"Marissa is an outstanding student-athlete who excels both in the classroom and on the field so it is no surprise to me that she has been recognized on the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team", said head coach Alexa Matta. "Marissa has consistently held a 4.0 GPA while being a fierce competitor for us all over the field. She is a true lead by example type of teammate. I cannot wait to see where her future takes her!"

Honorees selected to the Academic All-District® Team will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. Academic All-America® honorees will be announced from June 8-19.
