Russell Leads Women's Basketball in Victory Over Northwestern Ohio

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's basketball team hosted Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest. The Saints won the game, 72-54.

SHU was able to hold UNOH to eight points in the first quarter and 19 in the first half. Siena Heights took their first lead about six minutes into the contest and cruised on to victory from there. 

The Saints knocked in 27-65 (41.5%) attempts from the field, 7-21 (33.3%) from behind the three point line and 11-19 (57.9%) from the charity stripe. The Racers finished 18-57 (31.6%) from the floor, 6-27 (22.2%) from three and 12-17 (70.6%) from the free throw line. 

Demi Russell led the Saints with 16 points and nine rebounds. Addyson Tomczak and Taylar McNeal each added 11 points. Clara Waidley and Haley Hoffman each helped on the glass, adding eight rebounds a peice. Azalea Miller and Waidley both were able to dish out three assists. 

Emily Patton finished with a team high 22 points for UNOH while Kierra Billingsley added ten points and pulled down nine rebounds. 

Next up, Siena Heights will host No. 19 Lawrence Tech in a WHAC contest on Saturday, Jan. 27. Tip off is set fro 5:30 p.m. Saturday's contest will be the annual Pink Game for Breast Cancer awareness. There will be a $5 admission fee which will go as a donation to the Hickman Cancer Center. No passes will be accepted.
