ADRIAN, Mich. – The Siena Heights softball team's home opener is set for Saturday against Saint Francis (Ill.). After battling the weather all week, the Saints are ready for the first pitch at 1 p.m. against the Fighting Saints.
After Spring Break, Siena Heights holds a 5-5 overall record. The Saints are led by Kelsey Cherry with a .600 hitting percentage after 30 at bats, while earning a .657 on base percentage and .733 slugging percentage. As a team SHU holds a .411 hitting percentage and a .481 on base percentage. In the circle, Racquel Ward holds a 4.04 ERA with a 3-2 record and 21 strikeouts.
The visiting Fighting Saints are currently 8-4 heading into their first contest following the Spring Break games. Leading USF with a .484 hitting percentage and a .595 on base percentage with 15 hits and 31 at bats. Earning a 5-2 record with a 1.83 ERA is pitcher Morghan Dieringer.
Next up, SHU will travel to Indiana South Bend for a non-conference double-header beginning at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 22.
