Softball Ends Trip at 10-4 After Splitting A Pair Saturday

The Siena Heights Softball Team ends their spring trip with a 10-4 record after splitting a pair of games on Saturday.

The Saints took on Hannibal-LaGrange and came away with a 3-0 win, and fell to #7 Marian by a score of 8-3.

In the first game, the Saints couldn't find any offense until the top of the 7th when a two out pinch hit single by Bailee Taylor plated the first two runs, scoring Kenya Keller and pinch runner Jordan Bianchi.  After a walk, Amy Nordstrom plated the final Saints run with a base hit.  For the game, Keller had a leadoff triple in the 7th, Kris Forest, Megan Jones, Hannah Bleikamp, Kelsey Cherry and Hailey Fox each had solo hits for the Saints.  Lesley Ducat threw the complete game shutout, allowing only five hits and striking out seven.

In the second game, the Saints took on #7 Marian.  The Knights took a lead in the first 1-0 and then found themselves down by the end of the third as the Saints took a 3-1 lead into the fourth.  However, two unearned runs in the fourth, three runs in the fifth, and two more runs in the 7th were too much to come back from.

On the game, Keller was 2-4 with a run and a double, Forest was 2-4 with a run, Jones was 1-4 with an RBI, Bleikamp was 1-2 with an RBI, Cherry, Ashley Helmink, and Skylar Crenshaw each added hits for the Saints as well.  Lindsay Brandon threw the complete game, allowing five earned runs and striking out one.

With the split, the Saints end their very successful spring trip with a record of 10-4.  They will look to return to action on Wednesday at Spring Arbor with their home opener slated for Saturday against St. Francis (Ill.).
