A Saintly Sunday Softball Split

ADRIAN, MICH. – The University of Saint Francis (Ill.) Saints and the Siena Heights University Saints split a pair of very competitive softball games.  SHU won the first game 7-6 in comeback fashion.  USF won the second game 7-5, also in comeback fashion.

In game one, Siena Heights found themselves down 6-2 in the third inning, after USF plated a pair of three runs innings.  SHU answered back when Bitty Treece drove in a pair of runs and Hannah Bleikamp drove in another run in the bottom of the third.  Siena Heights then used a single by Treece and a couple errors to plate two runs in the bottom of the fifth.  Morgan Warfield then closed the doors on USF and took the win.

Treece went 2-for-3 with three RBI, while Megan Jones went 3-for-3 with two runs scored.  Warfield struckout four batters in the win.

Game two was a see-saw battle that saw the USF Saints finish out on top.  SHU jumped out to a two run lead in the second.  Then saw that lead cut to one in the third.  SHU looked to be in the driver seat when Skylar Crenshaw tripled to drive in two more runs in the fifth.  USF did not go quietly as they scored three runs in the sixth to tie the game. Then three more runs in the seventh to take a lead they would never relinquish.  SHU plated one run in the seventh on a Kenya Kellar RBI single.

Crenshaw ended the game going 1-for-2 with two RBI, a walk and a triple.  Keller and Treece both drove in runs for the Saints.  Warfield was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.  Stephanie Tylicki took the loss on the mound for SHU.

Siena Heights ends their regular season play with a winning record of 22-19.  They will now prepare for the WHAC Tournament next week.  Opponent and game times will be released at a later date.
