Men's Volleyball Falls in Four at Bethel

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- The Siena Heights men's volleyball team lost a 3-1 contest to Bethel (Ind.) in WHAC competition on Friday. Set scores were 25-22, 31-33, 26-24, 25-21.

Daniel Rua led the SHU attack with 23 kills, seven digs and two aces. Zak Tucker made 43 assists and eight digs.

Dominic Rees added 11 kills and seven digs. Jonathan Stovring totaled nine kills and three blocks.

ALso on defense, Andrew Sliwinski had five blocks, Payton Hastings was in on four blocks and Francesc Baza finished with 12 digs.

The first set included five ties before host Bethel broke a 21-all knot with a 4-1 run.

The Saints stormed back from a nine-point deficit in the second, having trailed 14-5. The second set featured 10 ties -- all late in the set at all points 22-31. SHU fought off set-point six different times before winning the set.

The third set also had 10 ties, including 22, 23 and 24, before the Pilots took a 2-1 match lead.

The last tie of the fourth was at 14-14 before Bethel (12-11, 6-5) pulled away for good.

SHU (10-10, 5-7) gets right back to play on Saturday with a 7 p.m. WHAC match at Goshen.
