Men's Volleyball Takes Five-Set Thriller at Lourdes

SYLVANIA, Ohio -- The Siena Heights men's volleyball team won a 3-2 thriller over WHAC opponent Lourdes on Tuesday night. Set scores were 25-20, 28-26, 17-25, 17-25, 15-13.

Daniel Rua had 13 kills and two aces while Santiago Salazar finished with 11 kills and nine digs.

Zak Tucker added 37 assists, three aces and three blocks. He secured a pair of set-ending points for the Saints (6-6, 3-3), including the match-ending kill.

Jonathan Stovring compiled eight kills, seven blocks and two kills and Yeban Youn dug 10 attacks.

SHU avoided a reverse-sweep after taking a 2-0 match lead. The Saints broke an 8-8 tie in the first with five straight points, holding the lead to go up 1-0.

In the second, Lourdes started out with a 4-1 advantage before the Saints answered. The teams battled through 11 ties -- the final one at 26-26 -- and SHU faced set-point twice before a Tucker ace ended the set.

Lourdes led the entire way in both the third and fourth sets, starting out on a 4-1 and 3-0 runs, respectively.

In the fifth, the teams played to eight ties. Lourdes held a 13-11 edge before the Saints ended the match with a 4-0 streak.

The Saints will return to action Friday with a 7 p.m. WHAC contest at Cornerstone.
