Men's Volleyball Falls in Four to Bethel

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's volleyball team dropped a 3-1 contest to WHAC opponent Bethel (Ind.) on Friday at the SHU Fieldhouse. Set scores were 25-23, 22-25, 25-19, 25-23.

Jonathan Stovring and Daniel Rua had 18 kills apiece for the Saints (5-6, 2-3) while Francesc Baza finished with seven.

Zak Tucker totaled 34 assists and four aces. Santiago Salazar also pounded four aces while Rua smacked three.

Rua led SHU in the digs department with 13. Stovring totaled six blocks.

Bethel broke a 17-17 tie in the opening set with three straight points and led through the rest of the set.

The Saints evened the match at 1-all in the second after starting with a 3-0 lead. BU pulled into a 6-6 tie and, then, SHU went on a 10-3 stretch to take the set lead for good.

The teams battled through 14 ties in the third set -- the final knot came at 17-17. Bethel finished the set on a 9-2 run.

During the fourth, the visiting Pilots broke an 11-11 tie with a 5-1 run and led the rest of the match.

Siena Heights will return to action on Tuesday with a 7 p.m. WHAC match at Lourdes.
