
LANSING, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's basketball team fell short against WHAC conference opponent Cleary, 71-66 on Tuesday.
George Kalatzis led the Saints in scoring with 25 points while Jonas Tester added 11.
SHU (7-20, 4-15) got off to a slow start trailing 17-8 after the first seven minutes of game action to then rip off an 8-0 run the next 1:34 to pull to within one at 17-16. The first-half was full of runs as Cleary then followed the Saints' run with a 10-4 run of their own. The Saints then finished the first half strong on an 8-2 run to trail by just one at halftime 29-28.
SHU then regained their first lead of the game since the 17:12 mark in the first half after Jonas Tester converted a lay-up to put the Saints ahead 55-54 with 6:01 remaining in the game. Cleary then regained the lead on the next possession to never give the lead back up and hold the Saints off.
On the evening, the Saints shot 41.8% from the floor and 39.1% from behind the three-point line.
The Saints will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 22, with a 3:00 p.m. EST game at home for its annual senior day and Pink game vs WHAC conference opponent, Northwestern Ohio.
