
SYLVANIA, Ohio -- The Siena Heights men's basketball team fell to WHAC conference opponent Lourdes, 72-65 on Wednesday.
George Kalatzis set a new career high in scoring as he poured in 38 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Saints. Kalatzis went 10-20 from the field and caught fire from behind the arc going 4-7. Kalatzis was also nearly perfect at the free throw line hitting 14-16 from the charity stripe. Also scoring in double-figures for the Saints was Nate Houston III with 10 points.
SHU 5-13 (2-8) found themselves down 43-33 at halftime as Lourdes shot 60.0% from the floor and 55.6% from three. The Saints also had a solid first-half showing offensively as they went 10-20 from the field and 4-8 from three.
In the second half, the Saints' defense tightened up as they held Lourdes to 45.8% shooting from the field and only 14.3% from behind the arc. The Saints were able to start the second half off on a 12-5 run to pull to within three points at 48-45 with 14:45 remaining, but could never take the lead as the second-half shooting was not as stellar as the first-half, shooting 39.3% from the floor.
On the evening, the Saints shot 43.8% from the floor and a solid 46.2% from behind the three-point line.
The Saints will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 18, with a 3:00 p.m. EST game at WHAC conference opponent, Rochester Christian.
