
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's basketball team fell to WHAC conference opponent Concordia, 65-61 on Wednesday.
George Kalatzis led the Saints in scoring, recording a season-high 29 points, going 11-12 from the floor and 5-6 from behind the three-point line. Brent Wiles added nine rebounds.
SHU 5-11 (2-6) fell behind early 14-2 until George Kalatzis caught fire as he scored 16 first-half points, going 7-8 from the floor and 2-3 from behind the arc in the first half to put the Saints up three at halftime 27-24.
The second half featured back-and-forth action between SHU and Concordia, featuring big scoring runs on both sides. The first run came from Concordia when they went on a 16-0 scoring run in a span of 2:48 to take a 51-41 lead with 8:05 remaining in the game. Immediately after Concordia's run, SHU went on a scoring run of their own as they went on a 14-1 run in 4:10 to regain the lead 55-52. In the remaining minutes, Concordia went on one last spurt to close the game out and ultimately win 65-61.
On the evening, the Saints shot 37.9% from the floor and 25.0% from behind the three-point line. On the glass, the Saints held a 39-31 advantage.
The Saints will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 11, with a 1:00 p.m. EST game at home vs WHAC conference opponent, Cornerstone.
