LIMA, Ohio -- The Siena Heights men's basketball team fell to WHAC conference opponent Northwestern Ohio, 86-74 on Wednesday.
Four Saints were in double-figures scoring as Jonas Tester led the way with 19 points and four rebounds. Brent Wiles recorded a near-double-double with 15 points and eight rebounds while Jasiah Rainey added 16 points. Coming off the bench also recording a near double-double was George Kalatzis with 17 points and eight rebounds.
SHU 5-8 (2-4) fell behind early as they found themselves trailing 20-6 in the first 6:11 of game action. Northwestern Ohio stayed hot from the floor as they shot 47.1% from the field in the first half and led 45-24 at halftime.
In the second half, the Saints started to come back into the game. Trailing 60-42 with 12:59 remaining in the game, the Saints then managed to go on an 18-3 run in a span of 5:02 to pull to within three points at 63-60 with 7:57 remaining in the game. The Saints kept pace for the next 2:51 as they were still trailing by three points at 69-66; until Northwestern Ohio was able to close the game out on a 17-8 run to come out on top 86-74.
On the evening, the Saints shot 43.4% from the floor and 14.3% from behind the three-point line.
The Saints will return to action on Tuesday, Dec. 31, with a 1:00 p.m. EST game vs Spring Arbor.
