ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's basketball team fell short in its comeback efforts vs Aquinas, 71-66 in overtime on Wednesday.
Kobe Clark led the Saints with 20 points, six rebounds, and four steals while Jonas Tester poured in 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Off the bench, Jasiah Rainey added 10 points.
SHU (1-4) (1-1) fell behind early as they trailed 34-15 at halftime. In the second half, Aquinas remained hot for the first part of the half as they held a 19 point lead with 9:33 remaining in the game.
Quickly, the Saints cut it to 10 points after Kobe Clark hit a three point basket. On the inbound pass following Clark's three, Gavin Sluss forced a turnover and made the layup to cut it to 10 points. The Saints did not stop there, as they made more defensive stops and trimmed the deficit to three at 54-51 after another Kobe Clark three with 3:58 remaining. Both Aquinas and SHU traded points as the deficit remained at three for SHU at 58-55 with one second to go. On the game tying three point attempt, Kobe Clark was fouled with less than one second left and nailed all three free throws to force overtime.
In overtime, the Saints fell short as Aquinas outscored SHU 13-8 in the extra minutes.
The Saints will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 23, with a 3:00 p.m. EST game at Michigan-Dearborn.
