The Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) announced a record-number 292 student-athletes to the 2020-21 MSFA All-Academic Team this afternoon (Monday, June 28). The Saints tallied 17 student-athletes on the list. Andrew Loria (Sterling Heights, Mich. | Senior) was the only three-time MSFA All-Academic recipient.
Cole LaFave (Rochester, Mich. | Junior), Kole Murlin (Celina, Ohio | Junior), Kendrick Green (Flint, Mich. | Senior), Jacob Lederman (Goodrich, Mich. | Junior), Andrew Lyons (Sterling Heights, Mich. | Junior), Hayden Sluder (Milford, Ohio | Junior), and Andrew McGaughy (Okemos, Mich. | Junior) were all two-time recipients on the all-academic team.
Walter Turner Jr. (Carlson, Mich. | Junior), Alec Thelen (Pewamo Westphalia, Mich. | Junior), Justin McCown (Sterling Heights, Mich. | Sophomore), Theodore Verner III (Clawson, Mich. | Sophomore) Kabe Sykora (Marshall, Mich. | Sophomore), David Robinson (Rochester, Mich. | Sophomore), Ty Smith (Fort Wayne, Ind. | Junior), Nicholas Turchiano (Cincinnati, Ohio | Sophomore), and Logan Schmidt (Cincinnati, Ohio | Sophomore) joined the all-academic team for the first time in their careers.
Student-athletes must have maintained a 3.25 GPA and be a sophomore or higher in order to be included on the all-academic list.
