14 Saints Football Players Receive MSFA Season Honors

FINDLAY, Ohio -- The Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) announced the league awards for both the Mideast and Midwest leagues on Thursday afternoon. Wyatt Gardocki (DL, Taylor, Mich.), Kole Murlin (LB, Celine, Ohio), Trenton Morrow (DB, Norwalk, Ohio), and Trevon Claybourne (DB, Redford, Mich.) highlighted the Saint awards as members of the All-Mideast First Team Defense. Kaleb Jefferson (RB, Bluffton, Ohio), Jerrold King (WR, Eastpointe, Mich.), Stanley Fink (OL, Westphalia, Mich.), and Jax Gasaway (OL, Livonia, Mich.) were named to the All-Mideast Second Team Offense. Andrew Loria (DL, Sterling Heights, Mich.) and Nick Stalworth (LB, Clarkston, Mich.) were selected to the second-team defense. Caleb Meister (P, Toledo, Ohio) was the punter on the All-Mideast Second Team special teams.

Gardocki finished 2019 with 24 tackles, 11 of which were solo tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, and two sacks.

Murlin was the Saints leading tackler with 114, 50 were solo stops. He also had seven tackles for loss, half a sack, two fumble recoveries, and one interception that he returned 25 yards for a touchdown.

Morrow finished with a team-high five interceptions while recording the fifth-most tackles with 48, 18 solos, and four TFL. He tallied two sacks also.

Claybourne had 37 tackles, 2.5 for loss, one sack, and two interceptions.

Jefferson led the Saint running game with 908 yards on 158 carries for a 5.7 yards-per-carry average. He scored six rushing touchdowns and one receiving score. His longest yard of 95 yards broke the school record for the longest play from scrimmage.

King hauled in 24 passes to lead the Siena Heights receiving corps. He totaled 348 yards and five touchdowns on the year.

Fink and Gasaway were fixtures on the Saints offensive line for the season.

Loria registered 32 stops, 7.5 for loss, 4.5 sacks, and two fumble recoveries.

Stalworth completed the second-most tackles for the Saints with 77. 33 of his tackles were solos and 3.5 of them were for loss including one sack. He caught one pick and scooped one loose ball in 2019.

Meister was a beast on special teams for Siena Heights this season. He punted 56 times for 2,255 yards to average 40.3 yards per punt. He pinned the opponent inside the 20-yard line a staggering 28 times.

Gabe Callery (DB, Traverse City, Mich.), Tyler Knecht (QB, King Mills, Ohio), and Griffin Sobol (LB, Morris, Ill.) were the three honorable mentions for SHU.

The Saints finished the season matching 2018's program-high seven wins. One of those wins came against a ranked Saint Francis (Ind.) team on the road in which SHU one by double-digit points.
