KANSAS CITY -- Siena Heights sophomore linebacker Kole Murlin was chosen National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Defensive Player of the Week after he helped lead the No. 18 Saints to a 24-14 win over No. 6 Saint Francis (Ind.) on Saturday. The win was the first in program history over a too-10 opponent and put the Saints firmly in second place in the league heading into the final two games of the 2019 campaign.
The Celina, Ohio product registered a game-high 15 tackles, six of which were solo stops, to lead the Saint defense to a second-half shutout of the Cougars. Murlin also forced a fumble and had a tackle for loss in the game.
Kole adds this award on top of his Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) Mid-East defensive player of the week award he received earlier this afternoon.
Murlin leads the Saints against Indiana Wesleyan this Saturday in Marion, Indiana. The game is scheduled to kick-off at 12:00 p.m., EST.
