Kole Murlin Selected MSFA Mid-East Defensive Player of the Week

Siena Heights sophomore linebacker Kole Murlin was chosen the Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) Mid-East Defensive Player of the Week after he helped lead the No. 18 Saints to a 24-14 win over No. 6 Saint Francis (Ind.) on Saturday. The win was the first in program history over a too-10 opponent and put the Saints firmly in second place in the league heading into the final two games of the 2019 campaign.

The Celina, Ohio product registered a game-high 15 tackles, six of which were solo stops, to lead the Saint defense to a second-half shutout of the Cougars. Murlin also forced a fumble and had a tackle for loss in the game.

This is the fifth player of the week honor this season for the Saint football team and the first of Murlin's career.

Murlin leads the stingy SHU defense to Marion, Indiana where they will face Indiana Wesleyan in the final road game for the team this season. That game is scheduled for a 12:00 p.m., EST, kickoff.
