Saints Snag Two MSFA Mideast Player of the Week Awards After Record-Breaking Weekend

Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) announced this week's players of the week awards and Siena Heights sophomore running back Kaleb Jefferson earned the Mideast offensive player of the week award while freshman teammate ShaMarr Simmons was named the special teams player of the week.

Jefferson (Columbus, Ohio) had a record-breaking day in the backfield for the Saints. His first record came in the first quarter when he completed a 95-yard touchdown run, the longest run from scrimmage. He finished the game tied for rushing touchdowns in a game with three and has the single-game record for rushing yards with 200.

Simmons (Maple Heights, Ohio) was all over the field on the SHU kickoff as he recorded five tackles to lead that unit as the Saints rolled to a 63-2 win over Trinity International this past Saturday.

This is both players first player of the week award of their careers. The Saints football program claimed the Mideast league defensive player of the week last week following the comeback win over Saint Ambrose on the road.

Siena Heights travels to Ann Arbor, Michigan this weekend to face Concordia (Mich.) in the team's first MSFA Mideast matchup of the season. The game is set for a 1:00 p.m., EST kickoff.
