#20 Football's Run Likely Over with Loss to #3 Grand View

DES MOINES, Iowa -- The 20th-ranked Siena Heights football team dropped its regular-season finale to No. 3 Grand View (Iowa), 56-7, in a Mid-States Football Association crossover game on Saturday. SHU's loss to Grand View likely drops the Saints from NAIA Tournament at-large consideration.

The Saints' lone score came on a 57-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Nick Gilliam to tight end Donovan Campbell.

Host Grand View (9-1) scored on their opening drive and never let up from there, taking a 42-0 lead into halftime.

Siena Heights (6-4) finally answered in the third quarter on Campbell's touchdown to finish off a five-play, 67-yard drive. After that, defending national champ GVU scored the game's final 14 points.

Running back Julius Taylor Jr. was SHU's leading rusher, finishing with eight carries for 51 yars. Fellow running back Marquese Dunn had 11 rushes for 47 yards. Campbell made two catches for 70.

On defense, linebacker Tyler Karcher had eight total tackles while fellow linebacker Nic Acton had a forced fumble and recovery.

The Vikings, who had already clinched the MSFA Midwest championship, scored 35 points in the second quarter.

GVU running back Jordan Cheatem was the team's leading ball-carrier, running 12 times for 98 yards and three RDs. Dual-threat quarterback Derek Fulton had eight runs for 48 yards and a touchdown and, through the air, went 19 of 32 for 290 yards and three scores.

The Saints entered Saturday needing two different results to go their way; neither did. In other MSFA Mideast action, ninth-ranked Marian (Ind.) defeated Saint Francis (Ind.), 51-18, to claim its share of the conference championship.

Siena Heights and Marian will share the MSFA Mideast title, but the automatic bid will go to the Knights due to their head-to-head win over the Saints.
