Weekly Recap: Rocket League Remains Undefeated, Hearthstone Win, Smash Competed

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights Esports Rocket League, Hearthstone, and Super Smash Bros. competed this week.

Saints RL had another trio of matches this week, starting with a Week 4 matchup in NACE against WHAC rival Cleary University. Saints took the series in straight sets, 3-0. This keeps the Saints' undefeated record alive this spring season at 3-0, with their next NACE match being Monday, February 21st against Central Michigan University at 7 pm. RL also competed in Week 2 of their UGC Collegiate Spring season with a pair of matches. In match one against St. Mary's, the Saints took the series by forfeit in the 7 pm slot on Thursday. At 7:45, the Saints looked to close out the week against Michigan Tech. Saints took the series in straight sets to improve to 4-0 in pool play for UGC and in prime position for playoffs at the end of March. Saints will go head-to-head with Bowling Green State and powerhouse Northwood University in the third week of competition.

Saints Hearthstone had a single match in the Alterac Valley Qualifier held by GameBattles. However, on Monday, the Saints took control of their playoff hopes, taking care of business against Claw Gaming and winning in straight sets, 3-0. This improved the HS record to 4-3, with one remaining match on President's Day at 8 pm.

Saints Smash competed in NACE spring play with crew battles against Cleary University. The Saints, looking to notch their 1st win of the season for NACE, dropped the series in a heartbreaker 1-0. Led by junior and team captain Evan "King Evan" Mehl with a total of 5 stocks taken, followed by William "Uni" Stiverson with 4, the Saints fell short of taking Cleary's remaining stock while losing their 12. The loss drops Saints Smash to 0-4 in league play with a meeting against Aquinas College next Thursday at 7 pm.
