Esports Weekly Recap: SHU Rocket League Competed in Three Matchups

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights Rocket League team competed in NACE week five matchup against Bowling Green State to start the week before facing off against Cleary and Indiana Tech in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) action to end the week.

The Falcons from BGSU defeated the Saints in straight sets, 3-0 on Monday evening. Kyle Gonyon (YoMoisty) led SHU with four goals. Corwin Allen (FootlessTub3) contributed six saves and Lucas Dix (Synth) provided five saves and an assist in the losing effort.

Thursday night was two WHAC matchups for the Saints as they faced Cleary in the first competition. The Cougars got the win 3-1 (4-2, 3-2, 1-2, 5-0) in the first conference action of the evening. Gonyon again led the way for Siena Heights with 13 total shots and eight saves in the four-game match. Dix scored three goals and made six sets while Savanna Mott (vladdy1418) registered two saves and one goal on two shots.

The week ended with a WHAC contest against Indiana Tech in the nightcap on Thursday. The Warriors won 3-0 as Gonyon tallied six shots and a goal. Dix made six saves and three shots while Mott also had three saves.

SHU Super Smash Bros. will compete in the first of two NACE circuit competitions over the weekend with over 90 competitors in the first qualifier. 

The Hearthstone team also begins preparations to compete in the Collegiate Hearthstone Stormwind Qualifier on October 11, at 8:00 p.m. EST.

The Saints Rocket League team returns to action at Lourdes on Tuesday, October 12 before facing Lawrence Tech in a virtual league match on Wednesday, October 13.
