Steven Robinson Jr. Named Next SHU Esports Director/Coach

ADRIAN, Mich. – Siena Heights University Director of Athletics Sue Syljebeck has announced the hiring of Steven Robinson Jr., as the new leader of the Esports program. Robinson Jr. is the third head coach in the program's history and takes over for Interim head coach Benjamin Sunderman.

"We are pleased to welcome Steven Robinson Jr. back to the campus of Siena Heights as the Esports coach," said Syljebeck. "Steven's experience starting a new Esports program at the high school level as well as his coaching experience should propel SHU Esports to new heights."

Robinson returned to his hometown of Elkhart, Indiana after graduating from Siena Heights in 2015. He began teaching special education while also coaching wide receivers on the Elkhart High School football team. He also started the Elkhart High Elite Esports program and led seven student-athletes to collegiate scholarships in just three years.

"I want to thank God for what happened," said Steven Robinson. "It was an all-around good experience and it all fit right into place. I am excited to start and get back to Siena Heights."

Siena Heights initially began a coaching search, but the process was halted due to the COVID pandemic. "I was able to take another year to hone my skills as a coach, father, and a leader," stated Robinson.

Robinson was a member of the first recruiting class in Siena Heights football history. He obtained his bachelor's degree in English from SHU. He is married to Ali Robinson and has two children, Levi and Naomi.
