Cheer Places Fourth at WHACs, Teague Named WHAC Coach of the Year

ADRIAN, MIch. -- The Siena Heights competitive cheer team placed fourth and head coach Liz Teague was named Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Coach of the Year at the WHAC Championships, which took place Sunday at the SHU Fieldhouse.

The Saints finished with an overall score of 80.78, finishing in order behind champ Concordia (90.69), Lourdes (85.30) and Rochester Christian (83.61).

SHU had the fourth-best scores in both the preliminary and final rounds. The Saints started the day with an 80.67 and improved to an 80.82.

Schools finishing behind the Saints were Madonna (76.75), Aquinas (61.83), Point Park (61.07) and Lawrence Tech (56.83).

All-WHAC honors were also handed on Sunday. Glenn Doss and Caysie Ringkvist were named to the First Team while Rafe Jacobs was selected to the Second Team.

Jenah Hamlin was named to the WHAC Champions of Character Team.

Academic All-WHAC honorees for SHU included Jacobs, Ringkvist, Hamilin, Emily Bayes and Madeline Parmelee.

Teague, an alum of Siena Heights, has been involved with the program since 2013 when she joined the squad as a freshman. After 2017 graduation, she remained with the team as an assistant coach before taking head-coach duties in 2021.
