Saints Split Pair at Lawrence Tech

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -- The Siena Heights Baseball team split against Lawrence Tech in WHAC double-header action on Friday. The Saints came out victorious in game one 7-4, and fell in game two 14-10. The Saints will be back in action on Sunday, April 29th at Lawrence Tech to close the regular season. 

 

Game one: Siena Heights 7, Lawrence Tech 4 

Adam Wilding led the Saints at-bat, going 3-for-4 while recording 4 RBIs. On the mound for the Saints, Brandon Biggerstaff was credited for the win, pitching five innings and forcing five strikeouts. Garret Smith relieved Biggerstaff in the final two innings, recording one strikeout. 

Lawrence Tech scored the first run of the game at the bottom of the first inning to go up 1-0. The Saints then turned it on at the top of the second inning, as Cole Mason hit a two-RBI double to left center, to send Brayden Hill and Brock Olmstead home to put the Saints up ahead at 2-1. Later in the at-bat, Gino Hutchinson hit a single RBI to left field to send Cole Mason home. To cap off the second inning, Adam Wilding hit a two-run home run to put the Saints up ahead at 5-1 at the end of the second inning. 

In the top of the sixth inning, the Saints were up 5-2 after Lawrence Tech hit a home run in the bottom of the fifth inning. At the top of the sixth inning, Adam Wilding hit a second two-run homerun to put the Saints ahead at 7-2. That finalized the scoring in game one for the Saints. As Lawrence Tech scored two more runs, it was not enough as the Saints were able to hold on to win in game one. 

 

Game Two: Lawrence Tech 14, Siena heights 10 

Brayden Hill led the Saints at-bat in game two going 3-for-3 at the plate. On the mound, Chase Molnar pitched the first four innings forcing two strikeouts. Shilo Bernal Jr. pitched the next two innings while also recording two strikeouts. 

The Saints dropped a heartbreaker as Lawrence Tech mounted a comeback. In the top of the first inning, the Saints jumped out to a 6-0 lead as Cole Mason hit a three run homerun. In the top of the third inning, the Saints' lead grew as Brayden Hill hit a two-RBI single sending both Nick Tiller and Jacob Jackson home to put the Saints up ahead at 8-0. 

At the top of the fifth inning, Gino Hutchinson hit a single-RBI, sending Cole Mason home to lead 9-1 in response to Lawrence Tech's run the inning prior. The bottom of the fifth inning was when Lawrence Tech began their comeback, as the Saints found themselves only down by three at 9-6. In the top of the sixth inning, Brayden Hill hit a RBI single, sending Nick Tiller home to put the Saints up 10-6. To end the game, Lawrence Tech scored eight unanswered runs to win the game 14-10.
