NAIA Honors 20 Student-Athletes and Baseball Team

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2022 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes and NAIA Scholar Team awards.  The Siena Heights Baseball Program had twenty student-athletes and their 2021-2022 team earn these distinctions.  The Saints had the most student-athletes honored from any baseball team in the NAIA. 

In order to be nominated for the NAIA Scholar-Athlete, an individual must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport, and have attended two full years as a non-transfer or one full year as a transfer.  The Saints had the most student-athletes honored from any baseball team in the NAIA.

For a team to be awarded, they must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale for the academic year.

Zach Bloom (3rd time), senior, accounting major from Swanton, Ohio

Cameron Hammer (2nd time), junior, finance major and communications minor from Bedford, Michigan

Cody Henderson (3rd time), senior, sport management major from Lewiston, Montana

Deven Hill (2nd time), senior, psychology major and business administration minor from Richmond, Michigan

Christian Jabiro (2nd time), junior, accounting and finance major from St. Clair, Michigan

Ethan Lajiness (1st time), junior, biology major from Lambertville, Michigan

Thomas Lanek (2nd time), junior, business administration major from Locust Grove, Georgia

Ken Layman (1st time), junior, accounting major from Sterling Heights, Michigan

Matt Love (1st time), junior, sport management major from Macomb, Michigan

Collin Mong (2nd time), junior, marketing major from Rochester Hills, Michigan

Aiden Nighswander (1st time), junior, exercise science major and psychology minor from Deerfield, Michigan

Anthony Scali (1st time), junior, business administration major from Pickering, Ontario Canada

Jakob Scroggie (3rd time), senior, marketing major and communications minor from New Boston, Michigan

Nolan Smigiel (1st time), junior, sport management major from Warren, Michigan

Brad South (2nd time), junior, business administration major from Lambertville, Michigan

Andrew Stoll (2nd time), junior, criminal justice major and Spanish minor from Sherwood, Michigan

Ryan Sullivan (1st time), junior, accounting major from Lambertville, Michigan

Parker Swartz (1st time), senior, sport management major from Toledo, Ohio

Cole Van Wasshenova (1st time), junior, engineering major from South Rockwood, Michigan

Chris Winkelman (2nd time), junior, accounting major from Monroe, Michigan

The Saints team was honored with their 9th NAIA Scholar Team Award and 9th straight honor with a 3.28 team GPA.  The award has been an honor for 15 years.
