The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2022 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes and NAIA Scholar Team awards. The Siena Heights Baseball Program had twenty student-athletes and their 2021-2022 team earn these distinctions. The Saints had the most student-athletes honored from any baseball team in the NAIA.
In order to be nominated for the NAIA Scholar-Athlete, an individual must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport, and have attended two full years as a non-transfer or one full year as a transfer. The Saints had the most student-athletes honored from any baseball team in the NAIA.
For a team to be awarded, they must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale for the academic year.

Ken Layman (1st time), junior, accounting major from Sterling Heights, Michigan
Matt Love (1st time), junior, sport management major from Macomb, Michigan
Collin Mong (2nd time), junior, marketing major from Rochester Hills, Michigan
Aiden Nighswander (1st time), junior, exercise science major and psychology minor from Deerfield, Michigan

The Saints team was honored with their 9th NAIA Scholar Team Award and 9th straight honor with a 3.28 team GPA. The award has been an honor for 15 years.
